MUMBAI: Two youngsters, who had looted a number of computer stores in Andheri (W) and were on their way to sell the accessories, were caught red-handed by the police on Thursday.

Mohammad Nadeem Siddiqui (22) and Khalil Sayyad (19) were travelling in a taxi with some of the loot, when they were intercepted near the Siddhivinayak temple at Prabhadevi. The gang leader, identified as Chacha, is wanted.

“On the night of February 12, the accused broke into four-five shops in a shopping complex at J P Road. They broke open the shutters at the entrance of these shops and stole 21 LCD monitors, 2 laptops, 2 CPUs and Rs 2,800 in cash. The loot was collectively worth Rs 6.79 lakh,” said ACP Dilip Suryavanshi.

The D N Nagar police formed a team to investigate into the matter. They received a tip-off that two youngsters were planning to sell the stolen computers and accessories. A trap was laid at Prabhadevi and Siddiqui and Sayyad were nabbed while they were on their way to sell the loot. Fourteen LCD monitors and 13 CPUs - collectively worth Rs 3.15 lakh - were recovered.

Siddiqui and Sayyad are residents of Madanpura in central Mumbai and are school dropouts. The police will interrogate them for the whereabouts of their gang leader. “The duo has been involved in petty thefts earlier. We are probing their past crime record. A local court has sent them to police custody till February 25,” zonal DCP Niket Kaushik said.

Traffic has remained a huge problem for the residents of Madanpura. Especially with the migration of more and more work force from North India, Stalls (bakda’s) on both side of the roads, BMC’s constant digging, bikers who always ride in No Entry (One Way), Haathgaadi’s, Thela’s, etc. end up blocking most of the road space, the public which mostly consists of the migrants have not yet learned to walk on footpaths and will always be found obstructing left out space. So to driving in Madanpura is more or less similar driving on Steep hills (note usage of 1st gear, clutch & brakes make this experience same). This all was tolerable up to an extent, but now the situation has extremely deteriorated.

And the credit goes to none other than our construction tycoons who have converted Chawls into Towers. As I write this I sense fear about the consequences of publishing this openly. But to eradicate our social evils this seems to me necessary.

Some name of the Towers are-

Edited….

All of the Towers I mentioned are created by demolishing Chawls, under the SRA (Slum Rehabilitation) Scheme. I wonder, how did these people get permission to erect tall towers? None of the mentioned buildings have parking space of their own. So the residents of these Towers park their vehicle on the road, adding to existing congestion.

Because of all these reasons, Madanpura’s traffic is getting worse day by day. Now I can only dream of a day when perhaps my child, his child or porably his grand child will get an opportunity to ride in the 3 rd gear in Madanpura.

Madanpura getting dug for Gold, no Oil, no.....

While passing through Madanpura last night. I witnessed south Indian PWD (Public Works Department) workers with huge drilling machines drilling hole all over Maulana Azad Road right from Nagpada Junction to Saat Rasta.

The view was absolute chaos with immense man & vehicle traffic. This is a popular view in city these days and it perfectly reminds me of the teaser campaigns of “DNA Newspaper” launch. In one of the hoardings we saw an old gentle man making strange gestures & stating, “What is BMC (Brihan Mumbai Muncipal Corporation) digging for?”

Gold or

Oil.

This keeps happening here. Please write in your feedback & suggestions to, as to how we can develop this site? I am planning to post pictures & come up with an article explaining, “How Madanpura got its name?”
